Academics » Elementary

Elementary School is constructivist, secular, co-educational, bilingual and multicultural. Our Elementary is incorporated with the Mexican Education Secretariat (SEP) and accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). Classes are completely bilingual; fifty percent of the modules are taught in English and fifty percent in Spanish.

Our program is led by the IPC (International Primary Curriculum). It is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum with a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for international mindedness. One of the main core ideals is personal learning based on the pillars of cooperation, communication, thoughtfulness, respect, resilience and morality.

We recognize that each student is unique and learns at his / her own pace. Teachers not only oversee students' academic progress but also monitor the development of their social skills, progress in language growth and interaction with fellow students.

The Peterson Schools encourages teachers to update their teaching skills continuously. Post-graduate degrees, PLC' (Professional Learning Community) workshops, Masters Degrees, technology updates, Montessori courses, and language courses are offered on an ongoing basis.

The Peterson Schools provide opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills and values. They do so through a PBL (Project Based Learning) curriculum. Students are encouraged to demonstrate their progress twice a year to teachers and parents via Student-Led Conferences. This empowers our students to take responsibility for their educational progress.

Design Technology

Design Technology is an innovative trend in which students design, build and shape their own ideas. In this space students must share resources and knowledge while collaborating in the elaboration of products following the design model. At the Peterson Schools it is offered to all Elementary School students from Pre-First to 5th grade.
