ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Elementary School at the Peterson Schools is constructivist, secular, mixed, bilingual and bicultural. Our Primary School program is accredited by the Department of Public Education (SEP) and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS), providing the program with validation both in Mexico and abroad.

Teaching in Elementary School is totally bilingual: 50% in English and 50% in Spanish.

At the Primary School level in the Peterson Schools, student development is encouraged by placing them in situations in which they must show thinking skills that require:

Clear communication, constructing critical thought in order to solve problems related to their lives and the environment, collaborating with others, handling the technological resources within their reach and creatively transforming their reality in a positive way. At the Peterson Schools we seek to create situations in which students can become the best people they can, based on their skills and personal talent.

The Peterson Schools reacts to changes in the world, not only by preparing its students with knowledge, but also comprehensively and with values so that they can adapt to any new situation and transform it into something better. To achieve this, we strive to understand the characteristics and skills of each child, their family setting, their learning style and their talents. The Peterson Schools prepares its students to respond to the many changes taking place in the world. It gives them a solid, all-round base of knowledge and a strong system of values so that they can face new situations successfully. To achieve this, we learn the characteristics and skills of each child, their family context, their learning style and their talents.

We keep a record of each student’s progress so that we can review our programs and adapt them to their interests and needs. We are in close communication with our students and with their parents.

Our teacher training focuses on the latest educational trends.

Each child is unique, each child has his or her own pace and learning style. Our teachers are responsible for establishing realistic and challenging goals for each of them and ensuring the goals are met. Our teachers observe our students closely and record their progress, noting how they interact with children of their own age and with adults. They also record students’ progress in language, writing, reading and mathematics.

If expected progress is not seen, the teacher will draw up a special work plan with the support of the parents for the student to help him or her reach the required goals. If required, external assistance will be sought.

Students are offered leadership opportunities inside and outside the classroom. Our teachers are role models who promote the value of respect. They encourage teamwork. They provide students with leadership opportunities inside and outside the classroom.

The students share their achievements with their parents at the Student-Led Conferences that take place twice a year. The purpose of this process is for students to take responsibility for their learning, to know what they are good at, where they can improve and to demonstrate their high academic performance, especially in English.

We try to instill a love of learning in our students so that they can have a positive impact on the world in which they live.

The goal is to shape individuals that are capable of incorporating, in both languages, an understanding of:
