Procedures and requirements for admission to the Peterson Schools
FOR ALL LEVELS:
1. The admissions process begins with a parent interview to evaluate their willingness to cooperate with the school in their child’s education and other school activities.
2. Prospective students write an Admissions Exam to evaluate their academic level. They also complete a psychological profile.
3. Prospective students are interviewed to determine their interests and goals.
4. Prospective students must provide a letter of recommendation and good conduct from the school they most recently attended.
6. Parents of prospective students must provide a letter from the school their children most recently attended certifying that they have no outstanding debts with the institution.
7. If they wish, parents are welcome to visit and observe our classes. An appointment for class observation must be made in advance.
KINDERGARTEN
The child must be able to get along with other children. If a potential developmental problem such as maturity or visual and motor coordination is discovered, the school will work with the parents to resolve the problem before it affect the child’s self-esteem. New students are gradually integrated into the classroom during a two-week period to ensure that he/she is enjoying the adventure of learning.
PRIMARY
New students must have an 80 average from their previous school. Parents must provide a copy of their child’s grades for the preceding years, two black-and-white photographs of the child and his/her birth certificate. The school will provide all the help needed for students who do not speak Spanish. Students coming from abroad who want official Mexican government certification of their studies must have their previous studies certified by the Mexican Consulate nearest their previous school.
UPPER SCHOOL
New students must have an 80 average from their previous school. Parents must provide their child’s birth certificate, grades from the previous school year, a good conduct letter and two black-and-white photographs (infantil size). Students entering Middle School from a Mexican school must present their Grade 6 Primary School certificate. Students entering High School from a Mexican school must present their Grade 9 Middle School certificate. Students coming from abroad who want official Mexican government certification of their studies must have their previous studies certified by the Mexican Consulate nearest their previous school. The school will provide all the help needed for students who do not speak Spanish.
